Everyone is entitled to a life based on dignity, and it should be like this until the person dies. However, there are some situations when life is barely livable – we’re talking here about those illnesses that reduce the individual dignity to a minimum, and the person is unable to live normally.
In these situations, some countries have stated that it might be legal to help the person end his own life in dignity, assisted suicide being now available in several states or countries, including Canada. The penal law in most of the countries forbids this situation, but it is mostly based on the fact that life is sacred and it’s a sin to end the life of someone else.
